East Ohio College (EOC) is fully committed to online/hybrid education—not simply for convenience, but as a well-supported and structured pathway to fulfilling nursing careers. We offer online/hybrid options based out of East Liverpool and Youngstown, OH.
As the times change, so have our programs. In April 2025, we proudly launched the first cohort of our Nursing at Youngstown program—expanding access to high-quality nursing education through our flexible online/hybrid format.
This new offering enables students in the Youngstown area and beyond to pursue a rewarding nursing career with the support, structure, and hands-on training that East Ohio College is known for. Due to the success of our Youngstown-based online/hybrid Nursing program, we’ve extended the online/hybrid program to our East Liverpool location.

Why a Shift to Online Schooling?
The shift toward online schooling is driven by a combination of technological, social, economic, and educational factors. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated this shift. It forced schools to adopt remote learning quickly. It showed that online learning is not only possible but also effective, which shifted long-term attitudes toward digital education.
Regardless of the pandemic, our society was already shifting in this direction. Widespread access to the internet and affordable devices have made online learning more accessible than ever. Platforms such as Zoom, Canvas, and Google Classroom have streamlined online, remote instruction.
Many students require the flexibility that an online program provides to balance their continuing education with other obligations. Industry developments, particularly in healthcare, can change rapidly, making lifelong learning essential today. Online programs enable individuals to reskill quickly and affordably—especially in fields such as healthcare, IT, and business, where the landscape is ever-evolving.
Students today are more comfortable with digital tools and expect technology to be part of their education. Online options give them more control over how and when they learn.
Benefits of an Online/Hybrid Program
At East Ohio College, our online/hybrid Nursing programs offer some flexibility to help you succeed—no matter your schedule or lifestyle. EOC has combined online learning with in-person, hands-on training. Whether you’re working, raising a family, or both, our programs are designed to accommodate your responsibilities while helping you advance your career in nursing.
The majority of lectures, assignments, and class discussions will be completed online from the comfort of your home. This allows students to study at their convenience, whether during the day or at night. Learn at your own pace and on your schedule, while staying on track with any deadlines. Online classes also mean there’s no wasted time on commuting to and from campus every day. This allows students to manage their time more efficiently.
While theory is delivered online, our online/hybrid model includes essential hands-on clinical experiences and labs at approved regional healthcare locations. This approach combines the best of both worlds. Students have some flexibility in completing their coursework online, but also have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting under the supervision of experienced professionals, learning as they go.
