Meet Rachel Hamrick!

Rachel Hamrick - Staff Highlight Thumbnail ImageIf you have ever had someone believe in you while also refusing to let you shrink your goals, that is the kind of energy Rachel Hamrick brings to East Ohio College (EOC) every day. Rachel serves as our Career Management Director. She also teaches and supports Dental Assisting classes, while providing assistance to Allied Health programs and courses as well. Rachel is one of those people who can be warm and encouraging while still holding the line on high standards because she wants students ready for the real world, not just ready to pass.

Continue reading to learn more about Rachel, her journey to EOC, and the many contributions she brings to the college.

Transition to Teaching

Before entering the world of education, Rachel spent twelve years working as a dental assistant. In 2023, she made the transition into teaching, bringing her real-world experience directly into the classroom. Her instructional approach is hands-on and demonstration-based, which is especially impactful in a skill-driven field like dental assisting. Rachel is supportive and understanding with her students, while also holding them to high standards. She knows what employers are looking for and is committed to helping students graduate confident, capable, and career-ready.

Rachel’s favorite part of teaching is seeing her students grow, succeed, and achieve their personal and professional goals. She finds great fulfillment in guiding them through challenges, celebrating their milestones, and watching their confidence develop over time. This dedication to student success is a consistent theme you’ll hear from anyone who knows her.

Rachel approaches teaching with compassion and understanding, always taking the time to listen and support each student individually. She is genuinely invested in the outcomes of the people she works with, going above and beyond to ensure they have the tools, knowledge, and encouragement needed to thrive, not just in the classroom, but in their future careers as well. Her commitment to their growth reflects her belief that education is about more than just skills; it’s about empowering students to reach their full potential.

Instilling Confidence and Inspiration

One message students hear from Rachel again and again is simple, but powerful: no one can take your education and degree from you. It is something you can carry anywhere for the rest of your life. That mindset is exactly what students need, especially when life gets loud, schedules get hard, and doubt tries to creep in. She does not just teach skills; she helps students build the kind of confidence that lasts.

The impact shows up in the messages she receives. Rachel has had multiple students reach out to tell her how much she has affected their lives and their careers, and that kind of feedback is one of the greatest compliments an educator can receive. It also says a lot about the kind of mentor she is.

Balancing Family and Student Success

Outside of work, Rachel is a proud mom to three wonderful children: Brantley (10), Carson (5), and Madelyn (4). They are the center of her world, and her free time is often filled with keeping up with their year-round sports and activities, something she genuinely enjoys. Anyone who has balanced career ambitions with busy family schedules knows it takes incredible organization, energy, and heart. Rachel brings that same dedication and passion to her work with students, ensuring she supports them fully as they pursue their own goals.

We are proud to have Rachel on our team, guiding Dental Assisting and Allied Healthcare students as they advance with confidence. Anyone who has worked with her knows she is the kind of mentor who genuinely wants to see you succeed and will do everything she can to help you get there.
