Ms. Melanie Murphy is East Ohio College’s newest faculty member, and she is coming to campus with bright eyes and excitement! Ms. Murphy has started as East Ohio’s new general education instructor and library assistant, replacing Mr. Clutter after transitioning to Career Management Director. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the North East Ohio Master of Fine Arts program and a Bachelor’s degree from Kent State University, where she majored in English and minored in writing.
Ms. Murphy said that she was “impressed with the family-like environment that is obvious when anyone walks through the door.” Her favorite part about her new position is “the advantage of working in the small college environment and the friendliness of the staff and students. Everyone respects everyone. East Ohio is a happy place while being focused on the success of the students.”
When she is not on campus, Ms. Murphy enjoys traveling with her family on a cross-country road trip or to the beaches in Mexico. “I am most proud of my family. My husband Jack and my children Brad, Emma, and Rosie. Brad and Emma are building their own lives, while my youngest, Rosie, is starting her first year at Kent State”.
Her excitement is evident in the classroom, and she has already built relationships with many of the students in her courses. “I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the East Ohio family and look forward to helping students build skills which will help carry them forward in their careers.”
