What Is Medical Assistants Recognition Week?

Medical Assistants Recognition Week is an opportunity to showcase the essential role a medical assistant plays within the healthcare team. Medical assistants are found in healthcare facilities, from hospitals and doctors’ offices to specialized care centers. These professionals are the backbone of patient care, performing both administrative and patient-facing duties to support the healthcare team and ensure a positive patient experience.

The week-long celebration features day-by-day themes that both highlight the medical assisting profession and provide opportunities for medical assistants to be recognized for their contributions. What Does A Medical Assistant Do?

In today’s fast-paced healthcare environment, the need for flexible and well-trained medical assistants is crucial for smooth operations. Their ability to wear many hats, handle numerous responsibilities, adapt to different clinical settings, and provide compassionate care makes them essential members of the healthcare team.

Medical assistants are often the first point of contact a patient has in a medical facility, making it incredibly important that they make an excellent first impression. Medical assistants may be found at an office’s front desk, taking vital signs, or helping to administer in-office procedures. Behind the scenes, they can assist with medical billing and insurance, patient scheduling, organizing medical records, and more.

The objective of Medical Assistants Recognition Week is to raise awareness of the hard work of medical assistants nationwide and to inspire interest in the profession among those seeking a rewarding career in healthcare. Medical assisting could be a great career choice for you if you enjoy helping others and want potential growth and career stability!

Starting A Career As A Medical Assistant at EOC

East Ohio College offers an 18-month online clinical medical assistant training program that gives students the flexibility to pursue their education without putting their lives on hold. With virtual courses and simulations, students will develop their skills and knowledge, then apply the skills during in-person labs on select weekends at the East Ohio College campus. This best-of-both-worlds approach allows students to pursue a career while balancing family, work, and college.

Toward the end of the program, EOC medical assisting students will complete an externship experience where they apply their skills in a real healthcare setting. This allows them to make industry connections, gain familiarity with a medical office, and further develop their skills before graduation.

With East Ohio College’s Clinical Medical Assistant program, you could be ready to start your new career in two years or less. Take the first step now by requesting information to connect with an EOC admissions team member.
