EOC’s Business Administration program emphasizes real-world, hands-on training combined with the fundamental knowledge that equips students with the skills needed for daily business operations. In just 18 months, students can earn their degree online—saving time compared to a traditional four-year program—while gaining the practical experience and education necessary to launch a business career.

What is Business Administration?

Business Administration involves learning how different parts of business work together to keep daily operations running smoothly. It involves planning, organizing, directing, and controlling business activities to ensure efficiency and achieve organizational goals.

Students will gain fundamental business knowledge by taking courses including accounting, marketing, small business finance, basic economics, human resource management, and fundamentals of taxation, among others. Aside from the business skills students are prepared with, they will also gain soft skills. Soft skills are non-technical, interpersonal, and communication abilities that influence how effectively someone interacts, communicates, and works with others. These soft skills are essential for any business, as they enhance both the efficiency and the environment of the workplace by improving communication with customers and coworkers, and enabling individuals to cope with the demands of a busy environment.

Business Administration students can sit for specific Certiport certification* exams such as  Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Practical, Career-Focused Curriculum

At East Ohio College, students gain comprehensive training in the essential functions of business operations. They learn how to effectively manage an office environment, including supervising personnel and overseeing daily activities to ensure smooth workflow and productivity.

The program also covers key customer-facing skills, such as applying sales strategies and delivering excellent customer service, both of which are critical for building strong client relationships. Students are equipped with the knowledge to manage a small business, understanding the financial and operational responsibilities that come with entrepreneurship.

Students receive instruction in basic accounting principles and payroll management, enabling them to handle essential financial tasks accurately. They explore the basics of business law, preparing them to navigate legal issues commonly encountered in the workplace.

Professional communication is another focus of the curriculum. Students learn how to write formal letters and emails appropriate for business settings. Marketing and advertising strategies are also covered to support business promotion and public engagement efforts.

Lastly, strong technical skills are developed by working with computer databases, spreadsheets, written documents, and internet tools—ensuring they’re ready for the digital demands of today’s business environment.
