Keep reading to discover how East Ohio College’s admissions process works and what steps you need to take to begin your journey to becoming a medical assistant!
Step One: Research and Request Information
When looking into colleges to further your education, one of the first steps you need to complete is deciding which program fits your lifestyle needs. East Ohio College makes that choice easier by offering an online program with flexibility through online classes and simulations with coursework that can be completed on your own schedule, each week. Online students complete several hands-on clinicals throughout the program to gain lab experience at the East Ohio College campus. This allows you to balance continuing your education with work, family, and other responsibilities, so you can move forward without putting your life on hold.
Once you have decided, the next step is to request information. By filling out a simple form that includes basic information, such as your name, phone number, email address, zip code, location of interest, and program of interest, you are providing your admissions team member with the necessary information to contact you. They will then reach out to complete an introductory call to learn more about you and your situation.
Step Two: Complete A Virtual College Visit
After completing the introductory call with your admissions team member, you will schedule a virtual college visit. During this virtual visit, you can expect to learn more detailed information about East Ohio College, the Clinical Medical Assistant program, our career services department, and the financial aid* process while forming a relationship with your admissions team member. This is the perfect opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
After completing the virtual college visit, your EOC admissions team member will recommend applying to the medical assisting training program if it is a good fit for your career and life goals.
Step Three: Apply to EOC
Once you and your admissions team member have discussed your potential success in the program, the next step is to complete a formal application for admittance to the Clinical Medical Assistant program and pay your $25 application fee. Upon receiving your formal application, your admissions team member will send you the necessary enrollment documents. Your enrollment documents must be completed before being enrolled in the program. These documents can include detailed information about the program you plan to enter, releases and student obligations, emergency contact information, and other important resources. Your admissions team member is available to answer any questions you may have while completing the documents.
Step Four: Complete A Financial Aid Consultation
After applying, you will be scheduled to meet with a financial aid team member to discuss your financial situation. They will assist you in filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and help you determine your eligibility for financial aid*. They will also discuss grants**, loans, and other payment options to help you finance your education.
Step Five: Complete Orientation and Begin Medical Assisting Classes
Upon acceptance into the medical assisting training program, you will complete a new student orientation course, where you will learn further information about East Ohio College’s academic policies, processes, and procedures. Once you complete the new student orientation course, you will be prepared to start the program and begin taking classes directly related to the Clinical Medical Assistant program.
All of EOC’s programs are direct admission, which means you will begin taking courses where you will learn valuable healthcare skills without the need for unnecessary general education courses. You can expect to learn various skills and fundamental knowledge in many healthcare areas, including phlebotomy, injections, medical office procedures, and more.
During your first six weeks of classes, your admissions team member will be there to answer any questions you may have. You will also meet the program director and become familiar with the academic team. Combined with East Ohio College’s career management team, you will have several friendly faces to guide you through your educational journey and beyond.
